These drawings began when I was away from my full studio for more than two years because of the restrictions caused by the pandemic. It was disorienting to say the least. But I did have my computer and iPad with me so I started drawing, learning how to use the creative apps and software as I went along. Visualizing the work from back to front, working in layers, adding and subtracting colors, was all strangely familiar and I realized it was similar to the process I had used during the years I was producing serigraphs, woodcuts, etchings, and mono prints. The intention I had then is the same I hold now: to produce a quality print from a well conceived and presented image. Since the only difference between traditional and digital ways of creating the work is the matrix on which the image is created, I'm confident in saying that my digital prints are as “original” as traditionally produced prints. It pleases me that these are only printed on demand so materials are not wasted.
